FPC: Bowling Tournament

Flickrs Photo Club's (FPC) year end get together was a blast! Can you imagine ... a bowling tournament ?! Whether you are a player or non-player, you have to go roll your ball down the lanes.

It was a merry Saturday night ( December 8) at the Playdium Bowling Lanes. Registration started at 6:00 PM with the ever industrious couple of FPC - Robert (rarerimages by shutterbugrer) & Abby Regala (Ladyshutter) sitting at the registration booth upon entrance. After registration, you get your FPC pin and the name tag for proper identification.

Dinner started at 7:00 PM. Perry (powerpee)has arranged a feast of Bulalo Soup, Playdium Chicken, Pancit, Salisbury Steak and Ice Cream for dessert.

Pat (Hocchuan) and Ed (Edcsk) were busy going around and making photos. While the others dine and drink to their hearts desire.

Then came the most awaited part: The bowling tournament.

There were 4 guest models (Given, Sharla, Nik and Mercedes) who arrived to play for each team. But then we needed 5.

Uh well, yours truly has to stand as the 5th model ha ha ha ha ha

Yes it sounded like a joke but that was for real.

They have no choice as we need to split the FPC members into 5 teams.

I ended up with Pat's team.

"Uh, poor team" I thought. They got an "in-house, old" model and on top, I never threw a bowling ball in my life. I don't know how much I can contribute to team. I felt embarrassed.

I'm not the only first timer there so Perry gave a brief pointers on how to play as well as the rules of the game.

My team members: hocchuan, kabukiph, rokbot, shutterglass and rei rana of arti entertainment.

At first, I don't really know how my rolling ball would go. But my team was really encouraging and supportive. After all, it's all about fun !

And that's exactly what we had. You hear all the cajoling, cheering, distractions and jokes.

I was surprised to see my team mates play! Boy they are all good ! And I feel so lucky to be with them. Ha ha ha.

Finally, awarding came. Siempre pa ---- CHAMPION kami!

And the "model" takes home the trophy! Woohoo !

Our year ender will not be complete without the raffle. We have our kind-hearted members who sponsored the prizes.

And here are the winners :

1. Canon 580/ Sigma DG 500 Sofen (mint haha) - Ian Ong

There was a pahabol shoot later in the evening when JoanneCurlah came with the sexy Brazilian models.

Year 2007 was a great year for FPC. We had the photo shoots, contests, tambayans and exhibit that has brought camaraderie and friendship among the members. This will also not be possible without our FPC Admins: Pat, Perry, Robert, Ed, Andrew, JE, Kuya Ron, Eric, Igor, Alex and Neil. Thank you for your unending efforts to bring together the FPC family.

And we look forward to our 2008 FPC activities !

More fun photos here.

VAM Dry Box

VAM Dry Box

When I saw this item posted at the FPC Forum, I knew I want to have one.
I needed something where I can store all my photo equipment and VAM Dry Box is just what I need.
I was thinking to use this box when travelling too.
Like put all my equipments inside and pack it inside the luggage.
But when this item was delivered.... uh oh....
The box itself is heavy and putting it inside my luggage would take half of my baggage allowance.
Hmmmm....
I guess I need to find a better way to bring all my stuff the comfortable way.
In my recent trip to Taipei , I was carrying my laptop and camera on the Lowepro backpack.
Well, the first thing I did as soon as I got back to Manila was to get a massage due to the back ache I got for carrying this backpack full of gadgets.
Going back to this Dry Box, it is worth your money. For Php 2,900.00 its one cheap way to take care of your things.
More info on this .... please check out Powerpee's

But I told Pumkin that she can go to bed and I'll shut down the PC for her.

Then I thought of logging in to my Flickr account and check out the Explore. I was surprised to see my own photo featured at the Explore page. All smiles I was.

Instantly, I grab Pumkin's camera and made a screen shot before my photo disapperars on that page since photos being featured at the first page of Explore are done in random. I might not see my photo on this page next day so better I make a remembrance.

For some, it might be a simple thing. But I'm sure it's a goal among the members of Flickr to have their photos included on the Top 500 Photos of the Day which we call the Explore/Interestingness pool. Nobody knows how they choose the photos to be included in the pool. It is something like a mathematical formula combining views, comments and favorites.

So far, I have 12 of my photos in the Explore pool. Having photos in Explore signifies that people do appreciate the photos I make. Thus giving inspiration to do better because they are there to view, comment and make it their favorites.

I consider this an achievement as well. This photo sharing through Flickr is an exhibit by itself. I am happy to showcase my works as a creative expression and as a way to know me as a person and as a friend.

I went to bed at past 1:00 am. I'm pretty sure I wasn't dreaming when I saw my photo on the Explore page.

Because the following day, I was uploading the screenshot in my pc.

I Need A Macro Lens

I Need A Macro Lens
Originally uploaded by Spiegelbild.

This photo will remind me of the moment of frustration as I try to shoot on a perspective but couldn't achieve due to my lack of equipment.

My talent for imagination helps me determine the kind of shot I want.
But how to do it? First, I need macro lens.

That's what I know.

But, that brings me to another dilemma. What kind of macro lens?
Choosing the lens is another difficult thing.
More difficult than choosing between Canon and Nikon.
(That's what I have heard of from my FPC colleagues.)

Going back, another hindrance of course, is the cost.
I could easily decide to get the top of the line macro lens to make the choice easy for me.
But is it easy on my pocket?

Anyhow, in time I know I will have my macro lens.
Who knows?
Someone might give it as a gift.
